Sarga® contraindications and cautions

Sarga Bodywork® has some contraindications and some cautions. When you book, please let me know in advance if any of the following apply to you.

Contraindications

Contraindications are clinical conditions or circumstances that are not compatible with receiving Sarga®. These are listed below with suggested alternatives where applicable:

  • Pregnant or trying to become pregnant (consider holistic massage or Thai yoga massage instead)

  • Recent laser eye surgery (avoid all face-down massage until fully healed)

  • Skin lesions including eczema, psoriasis, boils, rashes, or recent scarring (if skin lesions are non-infectious, consider holistic massage or Thai yoga massage instead)

  • Advanced stages of osteoporosis or any other bone degenerative condition; recent bone fractures (consider holistic massage instead)

  • Cancer in metastatic or terminal stages (consider holistic massage instead)

  • Uncontrolled and/or untreated high or low blood pressure or heart conditions (consider holistic massage or Thai yoga massage instead)

  • Thrombosis, aneurysm, low platelet count (consider holistic massage instead)

Cautions

Sarga® may be suitable for people with the following conditions, depending on severity:

  • Acute inflammatory conditions

  • Herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, sciatica, scoliosis, or vertebral fusion(s)

  • Varicose veins

  • Advanced stages of arteriosclerosis

  • Kidney disorders

  • Recent surgery, including the insertion of an implant

  • Recent joint injections e.g. cortisone etc

  • Recent bruises, or if taking blood thinning medication

  • Autoimmune diseases e.g. lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma

  • Heavy menstrual cramping or abnormal cycles
